Watch the First Nations Communications Conference online

Wawatay Communications Society is hosting a First Nations Communications Conference this week.

There are three sites that are participating via videoconferencing in Sioux Lookout, Thunder Bay, and Timmins.  K-Net Services is streaming this event live.  Click here to view this event.  It will also be archived for future use.

Chief Adam Fiddler is a keynote speaker at this conference speaking on the issue of managing a crisis through communications.

Community Choir celebrates 10 years of Christmas concerts

The Community Choir held its annual Christmas concert yesterday.  The concert marked ten years of performances since the choir first began in 2000.

The concert featured several Christmas carols by the choir and tone-chime performers.

The tone-chimes, donated by Hydro One, were a new musical addition to the concert this year.

To celebrate the tenth annual Christmas concert, the Community Choir has recorded a CD of its favorite Christmas carols.  The CD's will go on sale this week.  You can listen to the CD tracks online below.

High number of prenatals taking advantage of prenatal classes

Over the past six weeks, more than a dozen expectant mothers and their partners have attended a prenatal program.

Last night concluded the six-week program, which is designed to provide support and resources for families welcoming a new baby.

Some of the information discussed in the prenatal class are breastfeeding and baby formula, dental hygiene, car seat safety, and what to take when mothers go out of the community to deliver.
