Sandy Lake gives to young girl in tragic accident
A car accident in Sandy Lake on May 28th left 3 year-old Elaine Beardy with a completely severed foot. After 12 hours of surgery, Elaine's foot was reattached and she is now recovering in the Children's Centre at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
Sandy Lake's strong spirit of giving and helping it's community members in times of need shined through when a donation drive raised close to $1,500.00 for Elaine.
Rod Fiddler led the donation drive and his wife Cyndie is traveling to Winnipeg this evening, where she will take the funds raised to shop for toys, clothes, and other items to help Elaine's recovery somewhat easier. Several community members signed a get well board that Elaine will also get with her toys.
Elaine's parents Madeline Beardy and Curtis Meekis are with their daughter in Winnipeg.
